2024 has been a wild ride gone in a flash. Managed to do a small trim and ended the year on a high hair note. Work, health and life have kept me from writing more. I also kept my hair routine to a bare minimum. I managed to wash about once a week and kept it in a bun most of the time. This worked quite well and am going to continue keeping things simple. Before taking this photo I had been asked if it's my real hair a few times when I had it down. In 2025 I would like to be more regular with my trims. I barely managed to do it twice this year. The soft v shape and layers are a bit more forgiving and don't let my hair look scraggly too much which helps. I am hoping as I take better care of my health I'll have more energy for my hair. My current wash and blow dry routine takes me about an hour and a half and that's been the most I could do this year. I will try take better pictures in the coming year. I might also dig to see if I have any others from this year to share m...
My regimen this time has been on the simple and boring side. I believe it's good to have that in your arsenal.
When you get busy and life throws things at you sometimes all you can do is the bare minimum if that. Knowing the bare minimum when it comes to your hair will reduce the number of things you have to worry about.
When you go and try a new regimen and it doesn't work quite well this bare minimum regimen can help you reset and probably figure out what didn't work.
The bun is my default go to bare minimum style. I have been practising my braiding skills and now my hair is even long enough to put into two braids. So I can change things up and still keep my regimen simple.
As my hair grows out I have a whole list of styles I want to try. The best part is that they fit with my simple regimen. If I can keep to this regimen as best as I can those dreaded tangles and matting also keep away.
The number of products I need is also minimal. Shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser and my wide tooth comb. These are the things I know work for me. There are many other products I want to try and I have my staples. I try and keep my staples on hand at all times.
When things don't go to plan as may happen from time to time I have a few headwrap styles I can work with while I try and get things under control. We can only try.
What is your bare minimum regimen like?
